The Ojai Education
Foundation and the PTA/PTO organizations from the schools in the Ojai Unified
School District have joined together to conduct the
Save Ojai Schools
Campaign.
The SOS Campaign
was kicked off by a SOS Rally on April 20 (click
here to see the Rally flyer).
The purpose of the campaign is to:
- Increase public awareness of the OUSD budget crisis (click
here for information),
- Encourage citizens to contact their elected
representatives and express their feelings about the state withdrawing
education funds (click here for how to do
that)
- Generate donations to help OUSD avoid closing schools and
increasing class sizes (grades 4-12)
Flash! Thanks to community-wide
support for the Save Ojai Schools
Campaign the OUSD School Board voted on May 27th to remove school
closures from the list of potential cuts! The community
has responded generously with donations, and the Ojai Education Foundation is
pleased to recognize our donors and supporters with a "Thank You" ad in the Ojai
Valley News May 30, 2008.
the ad.
In addition,
the ad also
describes several events May 30 thru June 1 to support the final few days of the
Save Ojai Schools
Campaign . Attend a "Cinderblock Bookshelves" benefit at Theater
150! Get a bargain at a rummage sale! Get a Sub for the family at Jersey Mike's
(note that no coupon is needed). Get your car washed! Attend "Fractured
Fables" at Theater 150! And drop by our SOS Information Desk across from the
Farmer's Market on Sunday!
Your donation to support the
Save Ojai Schools
Campaign will be greatly appreciated, and will be an investment in
the future of our children, and our community.
