The OEF operates by providing direction and funding in four program areas on an annual basis:

• Mini-Grants program for hands-on educational enhancement. Teachers and other qualified individuals submit proposals in response to an annual RFP. Applications are received and scored by members of OEF’s program committee; approximately ten grants are awarded each year, ranging from $700 to $1,000.

• Teacher Enrichment program, to allow teachers to participate in conferences, specialized training or learning opportunities to address the critical and evolving needs of OUSD schools.

• Educational Heroes program, to recognize, honor and reward those educators that go beyond the call of duty to inspire students with their enthusiasm, creativity and love of teaching.

• Educational Enhancement program, to provide support for District-wide activities that address specific educational needs not met with Federal, State or District funding.

To meet these programmatic needs, OEF has created several avenues to generate funding support including an Annual Appeal to the community, the “Ojai Golf Classic,” a new fundraising event called “The Garden of Knowledge”, and solicitation of grants from corporate and private foundations.
